Citizen Prosecutor Academy

WHAT IS THE COLLIN COUNTY CITIZEN PROSECUTOR ACADEMY?

The Collin County Citizen Prosecutor Academy is a community outreach program presented by the District Attorney’s Office, which provides an informative perspective on the Collin County criminal justice system. This program, comprised of ten meetings, will show you how a case progresses, from the arrest and indictment of a suspect, to a trial and subsequent appeal. If you’ve ever wondered how police agencies and prosecutors operate, or how criminals are brought to justice, this program is a great place to learn.

WHAT TOPICS ARE COVERED?

Members of the Collin County Citizen Prosecutor Academy will hear from speakers spanning all aspects of the criminal justice system.  Among a wide variety of speakers include narcotics detectives, medical examiners, judges and prosecutors from various divisions throughout the DA’s Office. The Citizen Prosecutor Academy will also venture to destinations including the Collin County Sheriff’s Department and Child Advocacy Center to gain a behind-the-scene understanding of real-world prosecution and law enforcement.

WHERE DOES THE ACADEMY MEET?

The Collin County Citizen Prosecutor Academy classes are held for ten weeks on Thursday evenings from 6:30 – 9:00 pm, at the Collin County Courthouse, 2100 Bloomdale Road, McKinney, Texas 75071.
