Misdemeanor Trial Division

Thomas Ashworth , Chief of County Court at Law No. 6, received his Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Texas in Austin and his Juris Doctorate from Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law. While in law school, he joined SMU’s Criminal Clinic, participated in several mock trial competitions, and interned at the Dallas County Criminal District Attorney’s Office.  Mr. Ashworth joined the Collin County Criminal District Attorney’s Office in November 2008.

Geet Yadav Singletary

Zach Burd received his bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas in 2006. Following college, Mr. Burd worked for two years in the banking and secured lending division at Winstead PC in Dallas, TX, and then attended SMU Dedman School of Law, where he graduated cum laude in 2010. During law school, Mr. Burd clerked with the Honorable Justice Elizabeth Lang Miers in the Texas Fifth Court of Appeals, Dallas. He also worked in the Child Support Division of the Texas Office of the Attorney General. Mr. Burd joined the Collin County Criminal District Attorney's Office in May 2011.

Jared Clark began his law enforcement career in 1997 while attending college in California.  He was recruited into a uniformed internship program with the Solano Community College Police Department while working on a degree in Foreign Language Studies - Spanish.  Investigator Clark worked for the City of Dixon Police Department and the Solano County Sheriff’s Office, in California, where he served as a correctional officer assigned to a unit working gangs and criminal intelligence.

In 2006, Investigator Clark joined the Collin County Sheriff’s Office, and in 2010 he became an investigator in the Collin County Criminal District Attorney’s Office.  He currently holds an Intermediate Peace Officer License and Instructor Certification with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education (TCLEOSE).  He is the recipient of the TCLEOSE Academic Recognition Award.

Katie Elder began her career with the Collin County Criminal District Attorney’s Office as a receptionist in April 2004.  Since then, she has worked in the Intake Section of the Grand Jury/Intake Division, the Misdemeanor Trial Division, the Juvenile Section of the Family Justice Division, and the Special Prosecution Division. She currently serves in the Hot Check Division.
