Misdemeanor Trial Division

County Court at Law No. 5

Jeremy Wood , Chief of County Court at Law No. 5, graduated from Thomas University with his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice.  Mr. Wood received his Juris Doctorate from Texas Wesleyan School of Law in 2007.  During law school, Mr. Wood interned at the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, Narcotics Unit, and at the Denton County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, Family Law Division.  He also served honorably in the United States Marine Corps Reserves from 1998 to 2003.  Mr. Wood has been with the Collin County Criminal District Attorney’s Office since 2008 and now serves as a chief misdemeanor prosecutor.

Sarah Preston joined the Collin County Criminal District Attorney’s Office in January 2011.  She graduated magna cum laude from the University of North Texas with a degree in Political Science in 2003.  She graduated magna cum laude from Texas Tech University School of Law in May 2010. While in law school, she participated in the Board of Barristers, the Texas Tech Administrative Law Journal, and the Criminal Justice Clinic. 

Chris Nordman began his law enforcement career in 1999 as a member of the US Air Force Security Forces. During his eight years in the Air Force, Investigator Nordman spent time as a Personnel Security Specialist initiating security clearances for Air Force personnel. After four years of base law enforcement and security operation, Investigator Nordman was selected to become a member of the Air Force Combat Arms Training and Maintenance (C.A.T.M). As a member of C.A.T.M. he instructed military personnel in firearms deployment and tactics. After completing his Air Force career Investigator Nordman worked as a Police Officer with the San Antonio Police Department for approximately two years. Investigator Nordman worked for the Collin County Sheriff's Office for approximately seven months before he accepted a position with the Investigations Division of the Collin County Criminal District Attorney's Office in June 2011.

Sheryl Baxter came to the Collin County Criminal District Attorney’s Office in December 2003. She serves as legal assistant to the misdemeanor courts.  Previously, she served in the Office’s Hot Check Division, the Warrants Division of the Collin County Sheriff's Office, and the Collin County Temporary Pool.
