Misdemeanor Trial Division

County Court at Law No. 4

Samantha Chambers, Chief of County Court At Law No. 4, received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English with high honors from Texas A&M University in 2001. Ms. Chambers then returned to Texas A&M and earned a Masters of Arts in 2004. She earned her Juris Doctorate from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 2008, graduating with honors. During law school, Ms. Chambers interned with the Dallas County District Attorney's Office in the Family Violence division and participated in the SMU Prosecution Clinic. In addition, she organized the 2007 SMU Law Symposium on Domestic Violence and served as Vice President for SMU Women in Law. Ms. Chambers joined the Collin County District Attorney's Office as a misdemeanor prosecutor in 2008.

Ashley Keil received her Bachelor of Arts in English and History from the University of Texas at Austin in 2005.  She attended law school at Texas Wesleyan University and graduated in 2009.  Ms. Keil joined the Smith County Criminal District Attorney’s Office in August 2009. She has been with the Collin County Criminal District Attorney’s Office since February 2010 and currently serves as a misdemeanor prosecutor assigned to the Auxiliary Court.

Zach Burd received his bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas in 2006. Following college, Mr. Burd worked for two years in the banking and secured lending division at Winstead PC in Dallas, TX, and then attended SMU Dedman School of Law, where he graduated cum laude in 2010. During law school, Mr. Burd clerked with the Honorable Justice Elizabeth Lang Miers in the Texas Fifth Court of Appeals, Dallas. He also worked in the Child Support Division of the Texas Office of the Attorney General. Mr. Burd joined the Collin County Criminal District Attorney's Office in May 2011.

Robert Hinton has been in law enforcement with Collin County since 1991 when he joined the Collin County Sheriff’s Office as a Reserve Deputy.  Investigator Hinton served as a Reserve Deputy until 2004 and was then employed as a full-time jailer with the Sheriff’s Office.  In 2005, Investigator Hinton became the court bailiff in Collin County Court at Law No. 6, where he served until accepting a position as an investigator in the Collin County Criminal District Attorney’s Office in January 2011.  Investigator Hinton holds the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) Master Peace Officer certification as well as Master Jailer, TCLEOSE Instructor, and TCLEOSE Firearms Instructor certifications.

Katie Elder began her career with the Collin County Criminal District Attorney’s Office as a receptionist in April 2004.  Since then, she has worked in the Intake Section of the Grand Jury/Intake Division, the Misdemeanor Trial Division, the Juvenile Section of the Family Justice Division, and the Special Prosecution Division. She currently serves in the Hot Check Division.
